The radio.rituals – open sonic lab project facilitates a participatory space for experimental sound and text improvisation. On different independent radio stations radio.rituals broadcasts monotony, repetition, imagination and dreamlike realities. Improvised voice and text is surrounded by analog, digital and acoustic sound production. As radio.rituals is conceptualised as an open space of sonic expression, the audience is welcome to participate in the session and express themselves freely.
As a radio performance, radio.rituals broadcasts fragility into the intimate places of the listeners, kitchen, cars, living rooms, bathtubs. In these intimate surroundings, the six to ten hour long performances take the listeners on durational journeys. The project aims to transcend linearity of time, daily rhythms and conventional narrative and musical structures.
radio. rituals – open sonic lab is hosted by Cosmo Schüppel and Thai Tai Pham, with changing contributors and participants and was broadcasted on Sphere Radio Leipzig and Weird Fishes Radio Berlin. The Project is based on the bauhaus.fm show Radio Rituals (2021-2023) – one hours sound and text improvisations of Cosmo Schüppel and changing guests.
