The SOMAPHON Festival Weimar, Co-Curated and Organised by Thai Tai Pham and Cosmo SchĂĽppel – and hosted by Stockwerk e.V. – is an interdisciplinary festival for the body, sound, and interaction in public spaces. The city is understood as an instrument, a research space, and a stage. Sound art, performance, movement, and urban encounters come together in an open format that actively engages the audience. Since 2024, the festival has evolved under the guiding themes of „Polyphony“ and „research through play — play through research.“ Workshops, soundwalks, performative interventions in public spaces, lectures, DIY instrument building, radio formats, DJ sets, and sound and body workshops have been held at various locations in Weimar. SOMAPHON represents a contemporary festival concept in which art is not only presented, but also explored and experienced together with the city, artists, and audience.

2026 SOMAPHON Festival will carry out its third titration under the theme “DAZWISCHEN/IN-BETWEEN” focusing on the liminal spaces In-Between known polarities.

The Festival is funded by Musikfonds e.V. and Der Beauftragte der Bundesregierung

für Kultur und Medien, LAG Soziokultur Thüringen and the Studierendenkonvent of Bauhaus Universität-Weimar.
